We are interested in hearing from candidates who consider themselves either intermediate or senior Aquatic Biologists (or somewhere in between). We can adapt the responsibilities for the role depending on your interests, expertise, years of experience and our project needs. Generally, we see you performing on the following tasks: 

  • Develop and oversee aquatic (marine or freshwater) baseline and monitoring programs to support permit applications, verify compliance requirements, or monitor effectiveness.  
  • Prepare and manage environmental effects assessments and environmental permit applications. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships related to regulatory activities, including with regulatory agencies, Indigenous Nations and stakeholders. 
  • Manage permit conditions and commitments for compliance tracking and reporting. 
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and budgets. 
  • Provide strategic regulatory and environmental advice to clients related to project design and obtaining environmental approvals. 
  • Develop fish habitat restoration, enhancement and creation plans, designs, and reports, including offsetting plans. 
  • Coordinate or manage projects, including the maintenance of project scopes, schedules and budgets. 
  • Travel as required for various field programs and meetings. 

To be successful in this role, we think that you’ll need the following qualifications, but if you think you would be a great fit for Legacy, please reach out regardless: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, or environmental resource management. 
  • Experience in both Canadian and British Columbia regulatory environments. 
  • Possess a proven track record in environmental permitting processes in British Columbia. 
  • Ability to interpret and implement provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements. 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Highly motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks. 
  • Enjoy a fast-paced work environment with a focus on high-quality data and deliverables.
